Zed Bias has been shaping the sound of British electronic music since the mid-nineties - a producer and DJ whose fingerprints are on UK garage, broken beat and UK funky in ways that most people felt long before they knew his name. Operating out of Manchester, he has spent decades moving at his own pace, on his own terms. A pioneer who never needed a co-sign to know what he was building was real.

In 2000, he released 'Neighbourhood' on Locked On Records. It reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart and number 3 on the UK Dance Chart - but the numbers don't tell the full story. The record had already been moving underground for a year before it hit mainstream consciousness, passed between DJs, played in rooms that understood it before the rest of the world caught up. That's what real music does. It finds its people first.

We named our Neighbourhood hoodie after that record. Not as a gimmick. Because the feeling it carried - belonging, defiance, community - is exactly what Voice_of Defiance is built on. It felt right from the start.

So when the conversation about a collaboration came up, it didn't feel like a stretch. It felt inevitable.
